F3: Four female drivers, including three from the W Series, will test at Magny-Cours

Four young female drivers, including three from the W Series, will take part in a test at Magny-Cours, according to an announcement from F3. F3 will conduct a test just for women for the second consecutive year in an effort to add a female driver to the lineup.

Since Sophia Florsch in 2020, there hasn’t been a full-time female driver in Formula 3. The test will be conducted on September 16 and 17. Let’s look at the four women who will be competing.
The nine-year-old Gosberton, UK, driver, now nineteen, started her racing career at a young age. In 2017 and 2018, she won the Super 1 National Junior TKM championship. Pulling debuted in a single-seater in the British F4 championship in 2020. She maintained her position for 2021 by placing sixth in the standings. Sadly, Pulling was forced to leave the season midway through owing to a lack of funding.
She started driving in the W Series in 2021 as a reserve. Pulling made her racing debut at Silverstone, and after finishing seventh overall, she was given a spot for 2022.
With four rounds remaining in the competition, she is now in fourth place, just three points behind Beltske Visser and Alice Powell.
Pulling responded to a query regarding receiving an F3 vehicle to test:
“I’m looking forwards to testing the F3 car at Magny-Cours, and I appreciate the chance that has been provided to me. I want to get the most out of the day and learn more about what it will take to go to the next level, where I hope to compete someday.
“It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to operate this type of equipment, and I anticipate it to be extremely different from the vehicles I am accustomed to operating. Nevertheless, I’m looking forwards to the challenge and have faith that the team will provide me with the assistance I need to adjust and learn as much as I can.
Driver Hamda Al-Qubasi, a twenty-year-old FREC, will test with Pulling on Day 1. Al-Qubasi is a female leader with the ability to change history. In addition to becoming the first woman ever to finish on the podium in Italian Formula 4, she is currently the first Emirati driver to be invited to the FIA Karting Academy.
Al-Qubasi competed in the Italian F4 championship after joining the famed Italian team PREMA Racing in 2021. Al-Qubasi is currently thirty-seventh in the standings and competing in FRAC, thus it seems like he is already planning for the following season.
Al-Quabasi responded to a question regarding taking part in the F3 testing as follows:
“I’m happy to have been asked to participate in this high-profile test by the FIA F3 organizers; it sends a very strong message of support for female drivers, and I’d like to thank Bruno Michel personally for the opportunity. I’m very appreciative of the chance to test this incredible vehicle, and it means a lot to me to be recognized for my efforts and successes in the motorsports industry.
My career is progressing naturally, and if all goes according to plan, I hope to compete in this competition the following year. “I am eager to experience driving this vehicle, which has more power and downforce than the vehicle I am currently using for competition.
To deal with the additional G forces, I have been training very hard on my physical fitness. I am confident that I will be able to handle it well. I will also strive to learn everything I can, and I hope to enhance my driving and sense of control with the car throughout the test.
Chloe Chambers, the youngest driver among the four at eighteen years old, was born in China but was reared in the United States. She participated in her first race in the F4 USA Championship in 2021 and placed 26th overall.
Chambers participated in a W Series test event in January 2022. She was hired by Jenner Racing for the current season following both testing sessions. On the year’s first weekend, she finished in the points. When questioned about the examination, Chambers said:
“I’m thrilled about this chance. I’ve been waiting for it for a very long time, and I’m very happy to get it now. I look at this test as a fantastic chance to learn and gain F3 car experience on a new circuit with new individuals who I can learn from. I anticipate gaining priceless experience and gaining a better grasp of my skill gaps.
I just want to express my gratitude to everyone at W Series, Monoflo International, and Bruno Michel and his staff for enabling me to acquire this fantastic opportunity to gain knowledge and demonstrate my abilities.
Tereza Babickova, 19, made her W series and single-seater debut this year after racing karts for thirteen years. Babickova said when questioned about taking part in the F3 testing:
“I am incredibly appreciative of this chance. It is a significant task for all drivers in motorsport to advance to higher categories and, naturally, more potent vehicles. I am aware that driving an F3 car requires a lot of physical strength.
Since I’m still a newcomer to the sport of formula driving, receiving an invitation to the FIA F3 test represents both a reward for my past efforts in training and competing and a wonderful inspiration for the future.
Of course, my long-term objective is to move up to F3, so I anticipate that this test will reveal both my current skill level and any areas that require improvement.
One week after the Formula 3 2022 season is over, the test is held. It will be interesting to observe how these four fares and whether they manage to generate interest for the 2023 season.
