Before the “new king” launched his first designs in September 2023, Gucci introduced an equally remarkable collection. This season’s collection is like a collection, recollection, and connection of the precious values that Gucci has accumulated through many generations of rich creative directors.
Gucci fall – winter 2023: an interesting conversation of the past and the future
When Gucci announced the successor to designer Alessandro Michele in January 2023, everyone was already looking forward to how Gucci’s next chapter would unfold. And the Fall – Winter 2023 collection made by the fashion house’s design team is considered an interesting pause. In the statement of the Italian fashion house, the exchange of creative generations is considered something of profound significance:
“Legacy is formed by the exchange of generations. When the imaginations of separate minds are combined through the ages, the concept of heritage is born. Gucci’s Fall-Winter 2023 Women’s Collection connects creative cultures that intersect with the house’s history in an evocative yet modern proposition. A free expression born of collective memories that have eclipsed time, it exemplifies the beating heart of Gucci: an ecosystem of designers and artisans who share a common understanding of Gucci. passed down and evolved from creation to creation for more than a century. In an interesting conversation between past and future, the collection reflects Gucci as a cultural constant and recreates the influence of visionaries, paving the way for a new dimension…”
Gucci welcomes the audience into its headquarters in Milan. In the center of the yellow catwalk are two circular sunken podiums surrounded by functional elevators that act as doors for the models to enter. The first design that caught the eye was a tiny, sparkling bralette with Gucci’s interlocking GG logo worn with a long silk skirt and leather gloves. Next is the repetition of many coat patterns with colors: purple, blue, green, black, and pink. The metallic outfits caught the light under the catwalk lights. Shirts and baggy jeans also suddenly appeared, while padded shoulder jackets added a striking look to the collection.
The collection recalls the erotic and seductive silhouette of Gucci in the 1990s and early 2000s but embellishes it with the lavish palette of the 2010s.
Jackie bags appeared in different variations, the giant horse-bit buckle was to increase the attention of the famous accessory of the fashion house. Slingback shoes and fur-lined heels also appear eye-catching, cleverly reminiscent of the glorious Gucci fashion dynasties of the past.
