Before that, I worked on projects that didn’t have much to do with fashion, but those art models helped me break out of the traditional creative framework with innovative music projects or contemporary dance music. That helps me master my sound art, lead the audience’s thoughts, even create tension and lead to release. That’s hard to do with the popular music framework.

With fashion music, I can show more freedom, unlike other forms such as soundtracks and dance, which are limited in terms of frames and story progression. In addition, the sound and music on the catwalk can both serve the rhythm and rhythm for the model to feel, but also sometimes be used to distract the listener. Therefore, music in fashion is used with its own purpose and function.
With the ELLE Fashion Show 2022, many contemporary musical elements will be used, both in terms of musical language and timbre/sound language.
So, will produce music for fashion shows help you reveal your ego, the “monster” quality in your music?
With fashion music, I have many opportunities to express freedom, unlike other types of music that are constrained by certain factors such as duration, cutscenes or character emotions, too. presenting the story… Besides, the music on the catwalk also plays an important role in coordinating the listener’s emotions, serving to highlight the story that the designer wants to convey.
On the other hand, in my eyes, there is the language of music and the language of timbre/sound. We can consider sound/tone as material, and musical language as design. A good product needs perfection from both. It’s also my motto when it comes to producing music, that the sound must be unique and effective. And when it comes to fashion, I have many opportunities to create many new sound/tone materials that serve to highlight the designer’s story and personality.
So in your opinion, what is the connection between music and fashion?
Before, I was not a fashionista, nor did I put too much emphasis on the visual part. However, when I have the opportunity to collaborate with designers, I feel that their artistic languages, although different in expression, are still identical.
In music production, there are organic/analog sounds, created from instruments. Organic/analog sound always has unexpected changes due to many factors. It comes alive because each user is a different shade and there is no overlap. This creates the interesting point of those sounds when we can feel their personality but they will always be different each time they are created.
Besides, in music production, there is also synthetic/digital sound. Those are digital instruments/sounds that are easier to guess and control. However, it produces crisp, sharp, and detailed rhythms.
Same in fashion. There are materials that are natural and traditional, but there are also synthetic ones, including chemistry. Therefore, before working with designers, I always grasp how much of their collection is organic and how much is synthetic, thereby deciding to create the most harmonious sound flow.
Coming to the ELLE Fashion Show 2022, the organic/analog and synthetic/digital elements are also purposefully interwoven and very smooth. Sometimes the audience also has to wonder if this sound is real or fake, a natural instrument or a digital creation.
