Maverick Viales' first Aprilia MotoGP test has been confirmed

The club has confirmed that Maverick Viales will begin his Aprilia career with a two-day test at the end of this month. The Spaniard will test at Misano as he prepares for the 2022 season with Aprilia. He was a teammate of MotoGP championship leader Fabio Quartararo at Yamaha until his contract was terminated last week.

On Tuesday, August 31, and the next day, he will be out on the track at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. After hitting the rev restriction on his M1 bike during the Austrian Grand Prix, Viales was suspended by Yamaha. The agreement was terminated with immediate effect two weeks later, according to the team. Aprilia praised the team’s “encouraging performances” thus far and stated that it hoped to continue on this path with Viales. “From a technical standpoint, hearing the impressions of a rider who is testing your bike for the first time is always fascinating,” said Romano Albesiano, Aprilia Racing Technical Director.

Clearly, the first approach necessitates a fairly practical adaption phase in terms of ergonomics and configuration, which, as we all know, varies depending on the rider. But I’m confident that Maverick’s talent and speed will shine through straight away, and I’m excited to get started working with him.”
