Tony Stark Was Almost a Part of the Multiverse Chaos
Although ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has already included a lot of appearances, it appears that Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man/Tony Stark cameo was almost included. In a recent interview, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese disclosed that a sequence starring Downey was originally included in the script, but it was eventually cut.
The Link Between The Avengers
Wade Wilson interviews Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) for a position on the Avengers in the movie’s opening flashback. This scenario was originally scripted with Downey and Favreau in mind, but it seems that Marvel Studios had other ideas for the legendary actor.
The Shadow of Doctor Doom Is Massive
The authors speculate that Downey’s absence from “Deadpool & Wolverine” may have been related to his impending MCU role as Doctor Doom. “Clearly, the MCU had bigger plans for Downey, as we just found out, involving Doctor Doom,” Reese said. “Ultimately, I think that’s why it didn’t happen, although I don’t know the real reason.”
Additional Avengers Assembly
Downey was left out, but two other longtime Avengers members—Chris Evans and Hemsworth—were included. Hemsworth came back for a quick cameo as Thor, and Evans surprised everyone by showing up as Johnny Storm/Human Torch from the “Fantastic Four” movies.Ryan Reynolds’ “Golden Touch”
Declaring, “Honestly, Ryan might be the only person I’d do this for because he has the golden touch,” Evans expressed his delight about taking on the role again. This demonstrates Reynolds’ capacity to draw A-list actors and craft iconic scenes for his movies.
Important lessons learned:
- Robert Downey Jr. had a brief appearance in an early draft of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
- Wade Wilson would have been interviewed by Tony Stark for the Avengers in that scene.
- Downey’s cameo was perhaps spoiled by his future role as Doctor Doom.
- There were cameos by Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth in the movie.
- Securing these performances was largely made possible by Ryan Reynolds’s artistic vision and influence.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” is already a box office success, and the possibility of a Robert Downey Jr. cameo adds a new level of mystery to the behind-the-scenes narrative of the movie. The film’s current cameos and surprises are more than enough to keep viewers engaged, even though fans might be sad that they didn’t get to see Tony Stark one last time.
