The prestigious American fashion university Parsons School of Design has just signed a multi-year contract with the gaming and social networking platform Roblox. Together, the two sides conduct virtual fashion design classes and facilitate students to sell their products on the global Roblox shop.
Roblox is not a game company. It is a technology platform that allows users to design games, virtual fashion, etc. From a professional company to an amateur, anyone can use this platform to design a project. own. And talented, persistent units can generate millions of dollars in revenue with Roblox.
Fashioning and dressing up virtual avatars is an important part of games that use the Roblox platform. Roblox fashion shop has dozens of options for players, from hats, and sports shoes to designer brands. Gucci, Nike, Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Vans… are some of the typical names that have worked with Roblox in recent times. What the virtual avatar is wearing is seen as a realistic representation of the character in real life, thus attracting wealthy players who pay thousands of dollars to dress up in the game.
According to the Virtual Fashion Trends 2022 report from Roblox, the following details are worth paying attention to for those who are looking to start a fashion business:
Gen Z spends a lot of time on digital social networks like Roblox, where they design their avatar’s personality just like their real selves. In 2022 alone, more than 11.5 million users designed 62 million fashion items on the Roblox platform, up 25% from the same period in 2021.
94% of Roblox players have changed their avatars once. 3 out of 4 users are willing to pay for virtual fashion, especially designer fashion. This proves that, for the Gen Z market with potential economic resources, the importance of fashion in the virtual world is no different from the real version. Therefore, the implementation of digitized collections is increasingly important.
Parsons School of Design is one of the most prestigious fashion universities on the planet, opened in the 19th century, and is still a place to train big names in the industry. This strong position comes from the fact that Parsons is always at the forefront of new industry trends. Therefore, it is not surprising that the school opens virtual fashion training, preparing talents for the metaverse era.
From Spring 2023, Parsons University students will have the opportunity to take a course run by Roblox in conjunction. The course will include: How to design fashion for gamers using Roblox technology; and how to open a shop in virtual space parallel to real life. The actual design will be sold on the Parsons campus, while the virtual version will be for avatars on the Roblox platform.
According to Ben Barry, dean of the fashion department at Parsons School of Design: “Designers of the future must know how to build 3D graphics with products for the metaverse. Fast design speed, real-time updates, product promotion to millions of global users… We are preparing for the future careers of the next generation of designers.”
