It may be possible to find a way to make a mask as effective as surgical masks, but it has to be breathable. Also manufatures of Hepa vacuum bags sre making it clear that their bags are not meant to be made to wearnon the face. They have to do this because if someone dies because they breathe in fiberglass, i can only imagine the lawsuits they could face. High grade cotton material that has tight threads are good for home made mask but still cannot be considered medical grade.
