The Thursday Night Football era has changed. After years of switching networks, TNF has settled permanently in 2022 with Amazon Prime Video. The NFL has signed an exclusive season-long broadcasting deal with a streaming service for the first time.
Thursday Night Football viewing options for the 2022 NFL season
The kickoff game in Week 1 and the Thanksgiving games in Week 12 are the only two TNF games that won’t be aired on Amazon during the 2022 season. All season long, games will be played under the play-by-play and commentary of legendary announcers Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit.
The following is the complete schedule for the first season of TNF on Amazon, with all games starting at 8:15 p.m. ET:
Chiefs 27, Chargers 24 in Week 2 on September 15
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in a contest that lasted until the very last second. After falling behind 17-7 at one point, the Chiefs scored 17 points in a row. Taking control, Kansas City triumphed 27-24.
Browns 29, Steelers 17 in Week 3 on September 22
The Browns and Steelers traded blows all night long in what was a typical AFC North rivalry game. On the game’s final play, with the Browns ahead 23-17, the Steelers attempted to employ a trick play to advance the ball before fumbling in their own end zone, giving Cleveland a 29-17 victory.
Week 4: Dolphins at Bengals, Sept. 29
In Week 4, the defending AFC champions will play host to a potential postseason challenger. Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa, two quarterbacks from the 2020 draught class, will have the opportunity to square off in the NFL for the first time during the Dolphins-Bengals game.
Week 5: Colts vs. Broncos, Oct. 6
In Week 5, Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan will play their first TNF games for their respective teams. Ryan was moved from Atlanta to Indianapolis, while Wilson was moved from Seattle to Denver.
Week 6: Commanders vs. Bears, October 13
The first time NFC clubs will be featured on Thursday Night Football will be in Week 6. To take on the Bears and their second-year starter Justin Fields in a primetime match, Carson Wentz and the Commanders will go up to Chicago.
Oct. 20: Saints vs. Cardinals, Week 7
In Week 7, two NFC wild-card contenders will square off. While Kliff Kingsbury, Kyler Murray, and the Cardinals are attempting to get over last year’s heartbreaking playoff exit, the Saints are playing in their first season following Sean Payton’s retirement.
Week 8: Ravens vs. Buccaneers, October 27
Could Tom Brady’s final appearance on TNF be in Week 8? For the first time since moving from New England to Tampa Bay, the seven-time Super Bowl champion will take against the Ravens.
Week 9, November 3: Texans at Eagles
A.J. Brown, an Eagles wide receiver, faces his former division rival in Week 9. On Thursday Night Football, the former Titans wideout and his new group will travel to Houston for the second consecutive intraconference game.
Week 10: Falcons vs. Panthers, November 10
In Week 10, the Falcons will travel to face the Panthers in a divisional game. While Carolina will start Baker Mayfield at quarterback, Atlanta has opted for Marcus Mariota.
Week 11: Titans at. Packers, November 17
For the second time in three seasons, the Titans will visit Lambeau Field. Aaron Rodgers completed four touchdown passes in the most recent meeting, a rout for the Packers on Sunday Night Football in Week 16 of 2020.
Week 13: Bills vs. Patriots, Dec. 1
Last season, the Patriots played the Bills twice in primetime, both times in Buffalo. In Week 13, Bill Belichick’s team triumphed 14-10 on a blustery Monday night, but Sean McDermott and company ultimately prevailed with a 47-17 thumping in the wild-card round. In 2022, the Bills will be one of the top Super Bowl candidates to travel to Foxboro.
Week 14: Raiders at Rams, Dec. 8
The Super Bowl champions will play the revamped Raiders in Week 14 in Los Angeles, where the audience may be predominately silver and black. The Davante Adams-Jalen Ramsey game is going to be worth the ticket price.
Week 15: Seahawks at. 49ers, December 15
The 49ers and Jimmy G will face the Seahawks in a late-season NFC West matchup. With Geno Smith at the helm, Seattle will attempt to be the underdog at home.
Week 16: Jaguars at Jets, December 22
At the conclusion of their second seasons, the top two picks from the 2021 draught may face off. In an effort to defeat Zach Wilson’s Jets on the road, Trevor Lawrence’s Jaguars will travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Week 17: Cowboys at Titans, Dec. 29
An entertaining out-of-conference match between two 2021 playoff teams concludes Amazon’s TNF schedule. Since Mariota was the Titans’ starting quarterback in 2018, Dallas and Tennessee haven’t played. As a result, this could be an exciting game.
