D23 Releases a Catchy First Look at the Animated Follow-Up

At the D23 fan convention in Anaheim, California, the much-awaited sequel to Disney’s famous animated picture Moana created a stir. The first trailer for Moana 2, including exciting new footage and introducing Simea, Moana’s lovely little sister, was unveiled by stars Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson.

Moana’s Upcoming Journey

Moana has returned and is eager for new experiences, three years after her amazing voyage over the ocean. She’s investigating neighboring islands this time around in the hopes of making more connections in the enormous ocean she once dared to cross. But she embarks on a trip to the furthest corners of Oceania after receiving an enigmatic call from her ancestors, where she must contend with hostile enemies and perilous, long-lost waterways.

A Get-Together with Family and New Pals

Known faces like Maui, her mother Sina, her father Chief Tui, and her grandmother Tala travel with Moana. New characters are also introduced in the sequel, such as Simea, Moana’s younger sister, who is voiced by Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda. Simea promises endearing moments and sibling interactions by bringing a fresh element of warmth and humor to the narrative.

In addition, a group of peculiar sailors played by Hualālai Chung, David Fane, and Rose Matafeo, respectively, will accompany Moana as Moni, Kele, and Loto. The teaser teases the return of Gerald Ramsey’s Tautai Vasa, Moana’s ancestor, and the appearance of an enigmatic new character named Matangi, voiced by Awhimai Fraser.
