While I agree that climate change is certainly a serious issue, I dislike how politicized it has become, as well as how often people make completely overblown predictions of catastrophic

in a way that helps solve global warming. I was lucky to grow up in a family that held nature and the wild places of the earth in very high esteem. Some of my earliest and fondest memories of family trips are of national parks and trying to spot wildlife wherever I went. I was a huge dinosaur nerd and I have BBC’s Walking with Dinosaurs, as well as countless other documentaries about prehistory, recorded on VHS. As I grew older my visits to parks, while still awe-inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable, became tinged with sadness. Every park was talking about the effects of climate change on the environment and the animals that lived there. The first time I really felt the weight of those effects was when I visited the Everglades in south Florida. My family and I would daddy of the birthday princess girl dabbing unicorn shirt always try to spot the wildlife featured in brochures and in documentaries of the parks we visited. However, when we went to the everglades, there were less than Florida panthers living in the wild and the park rangers told us it would be close to impossible to see one. I was deeply saddened by the idea that they would soon be gone forever. When I was younger, climate change made me sad more than anything else. Now, that sadness has given way to a growing anger. I am angry about our species’s apparent lack of care for this planet. I am angry that every post on the National Geographic Society’s Instagram sounds like a plea for help. With regards to the legitimacy of man-made climate change, the current evidence is enough for me. Ice is melting, seas are rising, storms are becoming more devastating and more unpredictable. I have read enough about the issues to feel confident in my beliefs. I am angry at this administration for its utter disregard for the environment while the rest of the world is taking steps toward a solution and in the face of substantial evidence. To anyone who doesn’t believe, I encourage them to visit one of country’s many national parks and see for themselves why the environment is worth protecting. I firmly believe that climate change is the greatest crisis of our time and that it is our duty to clean up the mess we’ve made.
Climate change is real. And anyone who thinks otherwise can ht me about it. Jokes aside, climate change is a real imminent threat to the planet, a threat that is accelerated by the actions of humans. As ancient ice caps are melting and species are becoming extinct, humans must change their habits to accommodate and replenish what they have destroyed here on earth. It is up to us to hold each other accountable. That means questioning those in power about their decisions about the environment. I truly believe in climate change and don’t doubt the articles that stress the severity of it, however, I struggle to combat climate change in my daily life. Since I do not see the immediate repercussions of my own actions in climate change, I become discouraged and frustrated at my own power over the situation. It feels like I cannot make a difference even though I know that if everyone starts with a small action, we can make a large change. I wish there were more articles that help show some kind of progress or encourages people to combat climate change while simultaneously making readers aware of the severity of the problem. I believe we do have the power to do something about it. We are the future and people sitting in our lecture could be the people running for office to change climate change laws, going to the great barrier reefs to help reverse harm, and developing technology to decrease our carbon footprint. I definitely believe that climate change is real and it’s very evident the effect that humans are having on it. I’m not going to say that it’s easy to decrease your carbon footprint but I think that everyone can play their part in conserving different kinds of resources and reducing their negative impact. I’m not sure how things will change if people don’t even believe in climate change and if they are not willing to make changes to their lives in order to be more environmentally conscious. It’s pretty frustrating but I honestly don’t know what can be done and how to convince others. I’m from California so I feel like I see people really gravitating towards electric cars and using solar panels and things like that to make themselves more environmentally conscious but at the same time, I don’t really know how you can convince people other than by
