Choose your usernames wisely, use complex passwords. Now, the event that leads to a password being stolen could be considered hacking, like password sniffing… God is my refuge psalm 91 anti pollution face mask but that is a very complex task. With the massive amounts of data out there, even simple encryption is a relatively effective safeguard. The amount of traffic to sort through PLUS the complexity of any encryption level of encrypted traffic… it’s more than extremely unlikely. I don’t think Memento gets your analogy! I do and it’s spot on! annoying af how these usernames Passwords can be found out so easily, where tf is the security codes via phone numbers like email? I never said it wasn’t a big deal, or disputed it’s legality. It’s a breach of privacy and those who do this are assholes. What I am pointing out is that these devices are generally secure when you follow the instructions.
Am Individual’s data and info is something they should safeguard. Your passwords should be complex, different for each account, and changed routinely. You should avoid giving out your email address, and use 2-step authentication when available. Point is, this sensationalized video, claiming that these devices are being hacked is unlikely. It is much more likely that this person was using the default password, or a password that was easily guessed, or their email was compromised. This would be like saying debit/credit cards are easily compromised. If you take care of it, it is generally very secure, but if you leave it laying around, someone could use it. (This is similar what I am hypothesizing happened here in the video.) I agree, what you’re describing is two factor authentication.
