As the most anticipated fashion event of the year, ELLE Fashion Show not only brings an artistic night, introduces the latest collections of prominent designers and brands, but also conveys many radical messages. , timely, and associated with the social context.
Returning after a 3-year hiatus due to the pandemic, ELLE Fashion Show 2022 has the theme DREAM OF NEW BEGINNINGS, marking meaningful “new beginnings” with 4 young designers, recognizing the great efforts of a generation of talent and dreams of the world-class strides of Vietnamese fashion.
As an annual tradition, the stage of the ELLE Fashion Show is always kept a secret by director Cao Trung Hieu and the Viet Vision crew until the last minute. This is the first time that the stage of ELLE Fashion Show is set up in a completely open space. In the middle of The Global City’s 117.4-hectare open space, next to the canal of the largest water music system in Southeast Asia, the 130m-long stage appears like a hillside in the shadow of the sun, where you can watch panoramic sunset or admire the city’s iconic buildings lit up.
The focal point of the catwalk is a giant egg, hand-built on 3D drawings, with a length of more than 23m and a height of more than 10m, hand-made by theatrical artist Van Tong. The egg is made from an internal reinforcement system, wrapped with recycled fabric, and spray-painted to create a smooth surface, serving the art of mapping throughout the show.
The yellow-orange catwalk is illuminated by a system of 1,000 high-power lights, symbolizing the creativity “flowing” from the egg, where models and designers “break the limit” to start a new life. , a new journey.
Filling the space of ELLE Fashion Show 2022 is the experimental contemporary music of “sound wizard” Thanh Chu. Accompanying Thanh Chu are guitarist Do Nguyen Hoang Vu and artist Le Thuy Linh, lecturer at Vietnam National Academy of Music, who perform live T’rung and zither on stage.
Bringing ethnic instruments into the live performance alongside electronic music in a fashion event is perhaps unprecedented, but well worth the test. This is a balanced and challenging decision by director Cao Trung Hieu and music director Thanh Chu.
In addition to the music composed exclusively by artist Thanh Chu for ELLE Fashion Show 2022, The Global City’s water music performance is also designed specifically for this event, creating a harmonious art space between music and music. sound and light, with a blend of contemporary spirit and a refined traditional core. On the stage built as an international installation and presentation, nearly 100 models performed more than 100 designs of 4 domestic brands: KHAAR, SUBBTLE LE NGUYEN, HANOIA and CHATS by C.DAM .
To mark a meaningful start with a widespread, ELLE Fashion Show 2022 gathers more than 1,000 guests, which can be said to be the largest-scale fashion show ever. Opening this year’s ELLE Fashion Show is the top 5 Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 Le Hoang Phuong, stepping out of the egg in the outfit of the “Hair” collection of the KHAAR brand. A quiet and lonely start. Hair is not only the “root of man”, it is the beginning of the beginning, the DNA that defines an identity, a romantic, idyllic, everyday beauty, and is the first expression of cultural changes. in the lives of Vietnamese women.
Structurally, hair takes on the form of fibers – lines, one of the most basic units in design and creation. From yarn that we weave cloth, make clothes. The shift from neutral colors to more vibrant color palettes coupled with meticulous processing, fabric matching, and material recycling shows Ngo Hoang’s distinctive experimental fashion sense. Kha.
Slim shape, natural hug, soft fluttering with body movements; the details of yarn, tassels, knitting, crocheting, tying, tying, braiding … are the embodiment of hair. The most unique are handmade materials recycled from discarded fabrics (collected from companies, garment offices, small tailors, and KHAAR studios).
All pieces of fabric with diverse and rich colors and surfaces are cut, stitched, quilted into new surfaces, or mixed in crochet, hand-woven, and embroidered pieces. A highlight not to be missed is KHAAR’s 3D virtual costume and design process shown on the egg, highlighting the technological game that KHAAR is pursuing.
