I think that climate change is a thing, but I just don’t know to what extent. I have never really done any research on it, so I only know what I have heard from people. I am skeptical as to how fast the climate is changing and it is hard to state my position on climate change without any background. Since I do not have a lot of knowledge on this topic, I have to be able to trust those who are giving me information about climate change and to be honest I don’t. I think a lot of people have their own hidden agendas and may not be giving all of the information truthfully. I’m also wondering just how much the climate has really changed because we used to not have the technology to track these changes, but now we do. So these changes could be completely natural. With progress in technology, unfortunately comes along chaos for the natural order on planet earth as well. While most of us feel indignant about the current status of climate change, we mustn’t fall short on reflecting on how ironic our own skepticisms really are. In this day and age, energy production, which has lead to extreme release rates of carbon dioxide, dominates all factors of production that improves one’s living conditions. This over-reliance while has had its benefits, has also driven this world out of balance. It is unless that the human population as a whole can master the ability of moderation and help implement a system for the distribution of resources, climate change will continue on in its state of negligence. It is ultimately up to our own human race to solve a problem that we had created. As an Environmental and Sustainable sciences major, I tend to have very strong views on climate change. I think it is potentially the largest and most challenging issue humanity has ever faced, and if we do not treat it as such, there will be unavoidable consequences. We have a vast amount of concrete, reliable data that tells us climate change is happening; the fact that our government and politicians across the world are choosing to ignore this data is infuriating. To make matters worse, some politicians and climate change deniers have stigmatized the people who are hting for a change, and labeled them as crazy and untrustworthy.
