to know that my children will have a bleaker future than me. They will have to deal with our reckless consumption in a world where the price of clean, drinkable water skyrockets, endangered species become extinct at a faster rate than ever before, and heat waves become record-breaking every year. I believe that the human race is causing the earth’s temperature to rise. However, I do not know if my belief is true. I’ve listened to what people have told me, but have never taken the time to look through numerous scholarly articles that strive to support and disprove climate change. With that being said, I care much more about some of the immediate unmasked unmuzzled unvaccinated unafraid antimask politics shirt negative effects that pollution has in the world. In places like China, and heavily polluted waters we can already see negative effects already on people’s health and ecosystems. So why do we have to prove and convince the world of the long term effects of certain types of pollution if we already have immediate negative effects? Climate change has been one of the most discussed issues around the globe in the recent decade. Natural catastrophes and environmental research all have shown the dreadful impact of human society’s devastation of nature.
Admittedly, humans are selfish beings. The majority of the world is aware of the impending issue but only a minority of us actually take action to stop worsening the situation. Present comfort and convenience surpass our fear of the destructive consequences in the future. However, though a man cannot change or stop climate change, one needs to start somewhere. The situation is not optimistic but if we all start with ourselves, and then advocate toward our friends and families, there is still hope for nature and the planet. I believe climate change is a glaringly obvious event that is affecting people all around the world. Natural disasters such as the increase in hurricane activity over the last decade and the wildfires that are affecting forests and animals with California are perfect examples of how human activity can affect the weather so drastically. As a person who is originally from Egypt, Egypt had its first snowfall in over a century just within years ago. Anyone who thinks climate change is not true or that it isn’t “as bad as the environmentalist say” are naive. It is absolutely frustrating that the current administration in the White House avoids to resolve the issue at hand. I personally think its selfish that government does not focus on the future of this planet. There seems to be conclusive evidence that the earth’s climate is changing and humanity is one of the root causes of it. In my opinion, environmental protections should be nonpartisan issues in our federal government. We all have a vested interest in protecting our environment for future generations and getting bogged down in partisan hting on the issue only victimizes our children and our childrens’ children. The fact that large environmental legislations were popularized in the late s and early s by a Democratic candidate in a presidential election likely served to make environmental protection a partisan issue in modern political discourse. Nevertheless, we need a course correction to make the United States as Eco-conscious as some of our European allies. Climate change and the environment as a whole have never been at the forefront of my mind when it comes to activism, but I would never dispute the scientific facts that it is occurring and humans are causing it. The most disturbing part of the debate about climate change is how many people refuse to believe the science. There are an enormous number of politicians who reject the idea that human activity impacts climate change. As if the partisanship of this country wasnalready incredibly ubiquitous, somehow we have managed to make science political, something that seems to be based almost entirely on fact. The truth behind why so many politicians reject climate change is even worse, because a lot of it is explained by their financial connections. The fact that people cannot separate their desire for power and monetary gain from a realization that this planet needs help is depressing. It eliminates a lot of my hope in our ability to properly combat the every-increasing damages of climate change. Climate change has become a major force in the past decade. And yet, it feels as though the majority of the population is not taking matters as seriously as they should, only when natural disasters and destruction occurs do they start to rethink their decisions on how they treat the earth. I myself, have been hypocritical with my stance in climate change. Even though I know the catastrophic affect climate change is
